Koukou Temple
In 1651, before the ashes of the third shogun of the Tokugawa dynasty, Tokugawa Iemitsu, were brought to Nikko, a wake was held at this temple.
Decorated with the Tokugawa clan’s hollyhock crest, the temple also houses the Buddhist mortuary tablet of Tokugawa Iemitsu.
